Robert John Zimmermann, 92, passed away peacefully at his home on November 17, 2009. Robert was the devoted husband of Doris Hart Zimmermann, who predeceased him. Robert and Doris were lifelong residents of Kensington and New Britain. He was a Tool & Die maker by trade. He worked for American Hardware and retired from Emhart Corporation as Superintendent. His life was enriched and meaningful because of his caring, capable Maria Maziarz, who made it possible for him to remain in his own home, as was his wish. Pamela Taxel and Upendra Hegde were instrumental in his care. His wit and intellect provided for lively political discussions. He was an avid fisherman and downhill skiier. Bob was a prodigious craftsman. He was a creative and skillful carpenter, building furniture and clocks. A beautiful legacy to his wife "Dorrie" is the gazebo he built and still stands in Hungerford Park.

He was the son of Ann (Otto) and John J. Zimmermann of Rockville and Kensington. He is also predeceased by his brother Allan Zimmermann. He is survived by his sister Lois Wentland, who resides in Kensington. He leaves two sons and a daughter and their families. His son Jeff, who was at his beside at his passing, and his wife Ann McEntire of Madison, and their children: Hanz Zimmermann of North Haven, Aaron Zimmermann of Waterford, Devon Pettitt of Danbury, Breeann O'Connor of Old Lyme, MacKensie and Shayln McEntire, also of Madison. His daughter Bonnie and her husband Clifford Henricksen of Framingham, Mass and their children: Kurt Henricksen of Delaware, Kristi Perry, Katrin Henricksen and Christian Henricksen of California, Kari Djuve of Ohio, Karl Henricksen of NYC, Kyle Henricksen and Craig Henricksen of Cambridge and Karin Henricksen, also of Framington.
